Seit 14 Jahren verleiht der britische TV-Sender Dave (das frühere Zuhause der großartigen Comedy-Show „Taskmaster“) jährlich die „Dave’s Funniest Joke of the Fringe Awards“. Im Rahmen des aktuell laufenden 76. Edinburgh Fringe Festival hat eine Jury eine Vorauswahl an One-Liner Jokes, also kurzen Einzeler-Witzen, gesammelt und eine aus den 25 besten Witzen bestehende Vorauswahl zur finalen öffentlichen Wahl gestellt. 2.000 Leute haben ihre persönliche Top-3 daraus gepickt, so dass am Ende ein Gesamt-Tableau entstanden ist. Gewinnerin des besten One-Liners 2023 ist Lorna Rose Treen, die über die Ehrung sagt:
„I am blooming chuffed to have won Dave’s best joke of the fringe! Are you kidding! I can’t wait to tell my mum! It is already such a wonderful joy to be debuting at the Edinburgh Fringe this year, and this is a lovely thing on top. A huge thank you for awarding my stupid joke with this title!“
